Volume Doesn't Equal Performance
According to Straits Research (2025), content produced with AI costs 4.7 times less than fully human-made content, and nearly nine out of ten marketing departments already use it. In just a few months, the volumes that are possible have multiplied. The promise was clear: produce more, and therefore perform better.
In practice, the opposite is true. When everyone produces a lot of content, and produces it well, average quality no longer sets anyone apart. Angles look alike, formats converge, structures repeat. AI democratizes “well-written” and makes distinctiveness harder to achieve.
What’s becoming scarce is no longer the ability to write. It’s the attention you manage to capture, the perception you manage to shift, the effect you manage to establish over time.
Metrics That Don't Tell the Whole Story
Views, clicks, engagement, and leads tell you what happened. They say little about what changed. A perception that evolves, an idea that takes hold, a credibility that builds up: none of these appear on any standard dashboard.
And on LinkedIn, Meta, or TikTok, content isn’t distributed because it’s relevant, but because it triggers reactions. Content can be accurate, rigorous, well targeted, and never surface. The average attention span on a screen has, in fact, dropped from 150 seconds in 2004 to 47 seconds in 2024 (Gloria Mark, UC Irvine).
Start From the Effect, Not the Content
At JIN, we've formalized a different way of building a content strategy, around a single question: What effect do we want to produce, and how should we organize our content to achieve it?
That answer is the IMPACT model. Six dimensions to move from production to impact, from the desired effect all the way to orchestrating every touchpoint. The idea isn’t to produce content and then measure its performance after the fact, but to design upfront a system capable of producing an effect.
In the AI era, when production is accessible to everyone, it’s this ability to structure and steer impact that makes the difference.
